About

Food. I can’t think of any other four letter F-words that can bring out so much raw emotion and controversy.
Well, maybe I can think of one other word.
At its barest, food simply provide sustenance and nourishment. But we’re not basic, simple organisms are we. We’re complicated, trouble-making, greedy creatures. So if indeed we are what we eat, then our food must be that jumbo box of Oreos we managed to finish on our own late last night. Or those deep fried dumplings that spill oil everywhere and burn your hands. The “home-made” bread recipe the author promised will come out fantastic but ended up tasting like rotting vegetables.
This blog celebrates the straightforward, no-nonsense approach to cooking that reflects my 1) lack of time; 2) laziness; 3) simple mind. Anything too difficult and I’ll just pay someone else to cook it for me.
My cooking may be peppered with countless imperfections, or they may be too salty, too soggy, too oily, but that doesn’t diminish my love of it. And I’ll still eat that oversalted, soggy, greasy mush on the plate staring right at me. Sure, I won’t be happy, but I’d rather be unhappy than stay hungry.
